(More customer reviews)We bought this refrigerator to replace an older side by side model. We like the idea this fridge will pay for itself in just a few short years thanks to the energy savings. These units use a smaller compressor to save energy, along with much better insulation.. reportedly, we shall see.
Our unit was delivered with a broken water line - the service repair company replaced the water line but created a new problem - now our freezer door does not open properly due to the toe kick plate being improperly installed since the bundle of tubes leading into the freezer door weren't properly realigned. Their repeat visit failed to show - they claim the store canceled. We have already caught the subcontracted repair in other ethic issue involving our same unit so we asked the store to send a DIFFERENT repair company back out to repair what the first company failed to complete satisfactory to which [store] has agreed and scheduled. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE [store]!!!!
We have since learned that this freezer door has a known issue to freeze the water supply line hence why some units fail to make ice after a period of time. If your unit was making ice and is no longer making ice, it's very likely a frozen water line in the door of your freezer. We have been told the repair is for Whirlpool to have a HEATED water line installed in the door. The REAL solution is to properly place the water line on the outer side of the door with the insulation on the inner side of the door so the water line doesn't freeze. Are you paying attention, Whirlpool??
We have been told by the service team if the unit stops supplying water and ice to check the filter as it is likely clogged and time to replace. Otherwise we hear this is a great unit to expect many years of service.
We found the fridge and freezer compartments are MUCH roomier than our older model. If there is a concern about not enough storage space in the door of the fridge, simply purchase another door shelf bin for added space! We found an extra refrigerator door bin cost around 30 bucks.
